Die Gastronomie bekennt sich klar zu Nachhaltigkeit und Mehrweg, lehnt aber die kommunale Verpackungssteuer als ungeeignetes Instrument ab. Erfahrungen aus Tübingen zeigen einen hohen Bürokratie- und Verwaltungsaufwand, insbesondere für kleine Betriebe, steigende Kosten sowie Wettbewerbsnachteile gegenüber Nachbarstädten. Diese Mehrkosten können von den Betrieben nicht aufgefangen werden und werden am Ende an die Gäste weitergegeben – der Konsument bezahlt letztlich mehr. Praktische Abgrenzungsprobleme führen zusätzlich zu Rechtsunsicherheit und Ungleichbehandlung, auch nachhaltige Betriebe werden belastet. Gleichzeitig bleibt die ökologische Wirkung gering: Das Müllaufkommen sinkt kaum, das Konsumverhalten ändert sich nur langsam.
Statt lokaler Strafsteuern fordert die Gastronomie effektivere Alternativen wie die Förderung von Mehrwegsystemen, Verbraucheraufklärung, einheitliche Regelungen auf Bundes- und Länderebene sowie echte Kooperation.
Die Verpackungssteuer ist gut gemeint, aber ineffizient – nachhaltige Lösungen funktionieren nur gemeinsam, nicht durch kommunale Sonderabgaben. Letztendlich zahlt der Bürger den teureren Burger.
The gastronomy sector clearly commits to sustainability and reusable packaging but rejects the municipal packaging tax as an unsuitable instrument. Experiences from Tübingen demonstrate a high bureaucratic and administrative burden, particularly for small businesses, rising costs, and competitive disadvantages compared to neighboring cities. These additional costs cannot be absorbed by the businesses and are ultimately passed on to customers – the consumer ends up paying more. Practical delineation issues further create legal uncertainty and unequal treatment, affecting even sustainable businesses. At the same time, the ecological impact remains limited: waste volumes barely decrease, and consumer behavior changes only slowly.
Instead of local punitive taxes, the gastronomy sector calls for more effective alternatives, such as promoting reusable systems, consumer education, uniform regulations at the federal and state levels, and genuine cooperation.
The packaging tax is well-intentioned but inefficient – sustainable solutions work only through collaboration, not through municipal special levies. In the end, it is the citizen who pays for the more expensive burger.

Das derzeitige Verkehrschaos in Frankfurt am Main ist derzeit eine erhebliche Belastung für Betriebe, Anwohner und Gäste, da Anlieferungen kaum noch möglich sind und der laufende Geschäftsbetrieb akut gefährdet wird. Kurz- und mittelfristig drohen wirtschaftliche Schäden, Standortnachteile und ein Verlust an Attraktivität für Gastronomie, Handel und Dienstleistung, wenn keine ausgewogene Anpassung der Verkehrsführung erfolgt. Langfristig kann eine solche Situation weder für Unternehmen noch für Bürger tragfähig sein, da sie die Funktionsfähigkeit des Quartiers, Arbeitsplätze und die urbane Lebensqualität nachhaltig schwächt. Frankfurt benötigt daher verlässliche, praktikable Verkehrsregelungen, die Bauvorhaben ermöglichen, ohne ganze Stadtteile faktisch lahmzulegen. Beendet das Verkehrs-Chaos!
The current traffic chaos in Frankfurt am Main is a significant burden for businesses, residents, and visitors, as deliveries have become nearly impossible and ongoing operations are acutely at risk. In the short and medium term, economic damage, competitive disadvantages, and a loss of attractiveness for gastronomy, retail, and services are threatened if traffic management is not adjusted in a balanced manner. In the long term, such a situation is unsustainable for both businesses and citizens, as it undermines the functionality of the district, jobs, and urban quality of life. Frankfurt therefore needs reliable, practical traffic regulations that allow construction projects to proceed without effectively paralyzing entire neighborhoods. End the traffic chaos!
